Vacation Bible School - A Ministry Opportunity

With Summer being here we are all used to V.B.S.

It is a great time for kids to spend a week playing with friends, learning new songs and even hearing some Bible stories. For the last few summers here at Dalhart FBC we have sen many kids come a be a part of VBS. Each year it seems like I get more involved, and each time I enjoy it more.

I love seeing how excited the kids are, and it is fun watching them play and sing and make crafts, but the truth is what I love the most is seeing how the volunteers, men and women, take time out of their busy schedules to use their gifts, abilities and passions to serve. We are all exhausted by the end of the week, but the rewards that I see last a life time. Not only do we get to see God work in the lives of kids, I watch as the volunteers grow in their walk with the Lord because they served Him.

Don't miss out on the best week of the summer, call the office today and find out where you can serve. Your life will be changed.

COURAGEOUS The Movie

My wife Ilene and I went to Phoenix for the Southern Baptist Convention annual meeting and Pastors Conference. While there we attended a screening of the movie Courageous that is coming to theaters September 30th.

We have seen Fireproof numerous times and have used it as a tool to help couples that are struggling. We have also watched Facing the Giants and Flywheel (both produced by Sherwood Baptist Church in Georgia).

Before watching Courageous, some friends told us that they laughed and cried and laughed again when they saw the movie, so we went anticipating a good movie. To or delight, Courageous was fantastic. We were touched by the story line and sat on the edge of our seats as the action kept us engaged throughout the movie. On the drive home our daughter kept repeating the funny lines and together we all laughed.

I would encourage you to mark your calenders to see this movie September 30th. It will be showing in Amarillo.

Daily Devotions

If you have been a Christ follower for long, you know that you need to increase your knowledge and understanding of Him. Like any new relationship, the way you get to know someone better, is by spending time with them.

Here is a link to a web site where you can sign up to receive a daily email that will help you get to know Christ better.

If you go down to the column on the left and select "Free Online Devotionals", you will see some options for different devotionals. (You can even score points with your wife by telling her about a Women's Devotional). I hope this helps you on your journey toward becoming more Christlike.
