We brought Josh in to the hospital on Monday, and by Wednesday it looked like they had a handle on the infection and might let us go home on Thursday. I drove back to Dalhart for a meeting at church and then planned on coming back to Amarillo on Thursday morning to bring Josh hand the family home.
At around 7 pm, Ilene told me that the infection was getting worse and now they were going to have to replace his PIC line and start Josh back on stronger antibiotics. A few hours later, she called to tell us that there had been a miscommunication and that Josh didn't need his PIC line replaced and may still be able to come home Thursday.
Then Thursday morning early, Josh ran another fever so that changed everything again. The doctor came in and told us that they need to put him back on additional antibiotics and they wanted to wait until they get the results back from the new blood cultures before releasing him. At this point we are looking at anywhere from 2-5 days more in the hospital.
As frustrating as it is to be so uncertain about our schedule for the next week, we continue to find comfort in knowing that God has provided for us in the past. We are also thankful that he is done with the 5 rounds of chemo and the next stage is letting his body heal and recover.
Thank you for your continued prayers.
What a long journey you all have been on, we continue to pray for all of you and the doctors. I pray that soon you'll be home and back to your old schedule and that Josh can close the door on this time in his life and look forward to a healthy future. Praying...Alice and Rodney White
