IF MY PEOPLE WILL PRAY

This week I drove to Dumas. I was shocked at how dry the fields looked and saddened knowing that many of our farmers, ranchers and dairymen are in serious trouble if we don't get rain soon.

That same day Bill Hunter came by the church office and asked if we would be willing to host a community prayer meeting for rain. Since then I have talked with many of the other ministers in town and everyone I spoke with agreed that we need to get together to pray.

Yes we need to pray for rain because we desperately need it. But more importantly, we need to humble ourselves, confess our sins and seek Gods face. As a nation and as a community we have placed "other gods" before the One True God. In 2 Chronicles 7:14 God tells King Solomon that when He shuts up the heavens so that there is no rain ... if His people will humble themselves and pray and seek His face and turn from their wicked ways, then will He hear from heaven and forgive our sins and heal the land.

So it is time to pray, to humble ourselves, confess our sins and get our hearts right with God. Join us starting Monday July 11th at 7:00 PM here at Dalhart First Baptist Church, Monday through Friday until July 22nd.

Yes we need to pray for rain and we also need to pray that God will sustain us, that He will give us the faith to trust in Him as we go into this difficult time.
